The United Airlines plans to add daily flights to Vietnam and Thailand in October, further expanding the network for the U.S.-based carrier that already has the most Asia service, reported CNBC.
In the expansion, its airplanes from Los Angeles and San Francisco that are headed for Hong Kong will then go on to the two new destinations: Thailand’s Bangkok and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, with service set to begin on Oct. 26.
On Oct. 25, United Airlines plans to add a second daily nonstop flight from San Francisco to Manila, the Philippines, and on Dec. 11, it will launch nonstops from San Francisco to Adelaide, Australia, which will operate three days a week.
The news site noted that the carrier has been adding far-flung destinations not served by rivals to its routes, like Nuuk, Greenland, and Bilbao, Spain, which will start later this year. Getting the mix right is especially important as carriers seek to grow their lucrative loyalty programs and need attractive destinations to keep customers spending.

As President Donald Trump prepares to levy massive tariffs on other countries this week, Rollins weighed in with a blast at the Biden administration regarding the trade deficit on agricultural products. In her telling, President Joe Biden squandered an agricultural trade surplus he inherited from Trump, harming farmers.
The agricultural trade deficit did soar in the final two years of the Biden administration. But it’s a stretch to say Biden inherited a trade surplus — and the roots of this problem started with tariffs that Trump imposed in his first term.
The Facts
We received a nonresponsive comment from the Agriculture Department (more on that below) but let’s first dissect Rollins’s post.
The federal government operates on fiscal years that start in October. In fiscal 2020, U.S. agricultural products ran a trade deficit of $3.7 billion, meaning that the value of imports exceeded exports by that amount of money. In the 2020 calendar year, however, there was a surplus of $3.4 billion.

A small plane crashed into a San Diego neighborhood Thursday morning, killing everyone on board and causing widespread destruction. The Cessna 550 went down around 3:45 a.m. near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, destroying a home and setting over a dozen cars on fire. Here's what we know so far:
Fatalities and Injuries: Six people were aboard the plane, and unfortunately, all of them lost their lives. One of the victims was identified as Dave Shapiro, a music agent and founder of Sound Talent Group. Two other staff members from the company were also on the plane.
Destruction and Response: The crash damaged at least 10 houses, and vehicles on both sides of the street went up in flames. San Diego Fire Department Assistant Chief Dan Eddy reported one house was badly damaged, but miraculously, no one on the ground was seriously hurt. The fire department and other emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene.
Cause of the Crash: The cause is still under investigation, but it's believed the plane clipped a nearby power line before going down in thick fog. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will likely investigate the incident.
Neighborhood Impact: The residential area where the plane crashed is largely military housing, with many families living in the neighborhood. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames and smoke visible from a distance.
Witness Accounts: Yasmine Sierra, a local resident, helped her neighbors escape their burning house by using a ladder to reach them in their backyard. Jeremy Serna, a Navy personnel, recounted hearing a loud bang and seeing the sky turn orange before realizing everything was on fire.
The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available. Unfortunately, this incident adds to a recent string of aviation accidents in the US.

Two men behind a fake milk powder production ring allegedly paid US$150,000 as bribe after being exposed.
The Ministry of Public Security announced Monday that its Criminal Investigation Agency had initiated legal proceedings against Vu Manh Cuong and Hoang Manh Ha, the CEO and deputy CEO of Hacofood Group and Rance Pharma, for "bribery", Pham Gia Khai, former CEO of Vietnam Pharmaceutical JSC, for "brokering bribery" and Nguyen Van Quan for fraud and property embezzlement.
According to preliminary investigation, after their goods were temporarily seized by the environmental police in December last year, Ha and Cuong decided to bribe their way out.
Their goal was to get away with a fine rather than face criminal charges.
Cuong gave Ha $150,000, and he handed it over to Khai.
Khai gave the money to Quan to "settle" the matter, ensuring they do not face criminal charges for producing and selling fake goods.
Quan had falsely claimed to have connections with government authorities and individuals in power, suggesting he could reduce the severity of the legal consequences and prevent criminal prosecution.
Khai took him at his word and handed over the money, but Quan kept it for his personal use.
On April 10 the Criminal Investigation Agency charged Ha and Cuong along with four accomplices with the production and sale of fake food products and violating accounting regulations, resulting in serious consequences.
The fake milk powder production ring started operation in August 2021 when Ha and Cuong noticed the increasing demand for milk powder.

Elon Musk has pushed false claims that millions of dead people are collecting Social Security benefits. Now he’s peddling another specious story about the program: that immigrants are being given Social Security cards too freely, then collecting benefits and voting.
At a town hall-style event in Wisconsin on Sunday night, Musk and close ally Antonio Gracias — whom Musk has tapped to help with the U.S. DOGE Service’s efforts to make cuts at the Social Security Administration — displayed a bar chart that Gracias said showed a large increase in noncitizens getting Social Security numbers.
“This is a mind-blowing chart,” Musk said, as people in the audience lifted their phones to photograph the screen.
“This literally blew us away,” Gracias added.
Immigrants who are legally authorized to work in the United States do in fact receive Social Security numbers. That’s how the system is designed. The Social Security Act requires numbers be assigned promptly to immigrants who are legally in the country to work.
But Musk and Gracias presented the fact that some noncitizens have Social Security numbers as shocking, characterizing it as something they had stumbled upon and were exposing, with Gracias claiming federal employees who had shared the data had taken a “risk” to do so.

Nearly a week after a powerful earthquake struck central Myanmar, the official death toll has climbed to 3,145, the country’s military-led government reported Thursday. Search and rescue teams continue to uncover more victims, while humanitarian organizations race to deliver vital medical care and shelter to the survivors.
At a government briefing in Naypyitaw, Information Minister Maung Maung Ohn said that 4,589 people have been injured and 221 remain missing, according to a report by state-run broadcaster MRTV.
The earthquake, measured at magnitude 7.7, struck on March 28 with its epicenter located near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city. The seismic event caused widespread destruction—collapsi ng thousands of buildings, cracking roads, and destroying bridges across multiple regions.
Although the official numbers are already grim, independent reports from local media suggest the actual casualty count could be much higher. With communication networks severely disrupted and many remote areas still inaccessible, officials fear the true scale of the disaster has yet to emerge.
